Illusion or Reality? The knowing is Freedom.

It’s 6:30, I’ve been up for an hour and am on my 2nd cup of coffee. I do love a good cup of dark roast in the morning.

Over the past month or so, layers continue to shift, merge and completely change my daily reality. Living in a small community, with a less than diverse culture has proven a great training ground for me to continue to expand and explore my own beliefs and perspectives. I decided I wanted expansion and something different and boy did I manifest that opportunity well.

This past week, I thought that all of the vision and perspective of owning a business, continuing to pursue my deepest desires and living in the totality of my personal freedom was not working the way I wanted it to. This lead me to apply for jobs, which I haven’t really actively done in over seven years. I have had interviews and have even had job offers. Let’s just say there is nothing like thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, stepping on a different lawn and realizing your lawn is actually quite nice.

As a result of my latest experiment, I will be using my experiences to continue to grow and expand my company.

Yesterday after showing up early to a job interview, waiting 25 minutes after our scheduled appointment time for the interviewer to show up, and sitting in an environment that had my body feeling like it was in a capsule being submerged deep into the ocean, I realized I just needed to refresh my perspective on life. At minute 26 I got up and left to explore what was next. It’s getting faster….only 26 minutes of discomfort before I moved on.

On my way home I stopped at the store. In the parking lot there was a man holding a sign. The sign read “Please help Lost my job Have a wife and 4 kids” I thought to myself, every day that I don’t have new clients I have lost my job. I left my wife almost 5 years ago and I only have 1 kid, but what keeps me from holding a sign? That thought lead me to do the strangest thing.

I pulled up to the man and asked “What leads you to pick up a sign and stand on the corner?” He started to tell me his story, which was a conglomeration of poor choice and history that really didn’t matter today. I told him, my question was not out of judgment, but was pure curiosity of what separated me and my choices from him and his choices.
This man said he makes $250 to $300 a day standing on a corner, holding a sign. It provides money for him to eat when he is between jobs and at times homeless.

My realization of “Sign People” (a sign that sends a message of ”help” or “pity me”) and how they serve humanity.  Everyday, people find compassion or feel the desire to give this man money. In talking to him, I find out that his wife and kids don’t even live with him nor has he seen them in months. The bottom line is, he makes tax free money at the rate of $30.00+ an hour for flying a sign and touching people’s hearts. It doesn’t matter how he touches their heart; he is an energetic response to all of the Souls out there seeking someone to help, save, or feel superior to.  He is our physical manifestation of lack.  Lack of connection, lack of Divine Knowing, and lack of well being. Without him we would not have the opportunity to confirm all of our beliefs of separation.

I am starting to realize and truly understand the energetic makeup of this human life. Every judgment, every perception of life, every perception of separation shows up as an experience in daily life. This experience can be on the periphery or it can be an in your face, feel it, see it, taste it type of thing. It can be pleasurable or painful or anything in between.Side Note: You will not see me “flying a sign”, I can’t stand still that long in one place.

I do challenge you to face your perception of life head on today. I challenge you to honor that inner feeling and move through the perceived obstacles and barriers as if they were questions on a school paper.

What if your life was a hypothesis in a science project, and you were living out theories as your daily interaction or reaction to life’s substance? How would you tweak the equation? What formula changes would you make? What does life feel like when reality is an observation and shifting of perspective instead of a personal attack or perceived karmic debt? By the way, my company is still open for business, my vision is clearer and my heart is open to receive the guidance to my next grand adventure.

The Energizer Blessing

This week when I went to get my oil changed, my maintenance report came back with a note that my battery was bad. In my mind, I was baffled. How could this be? I turned the ignition on and it started, I drove back and forth to town no problem; so how could I have a bad battery? I take my truck over to the auto parts store so they can test it. The store is busy, the manager is the only employee waiting on customers, the phone is ringing with no one answering it and by all appearances it is utter chaos.
I’m standing there thinking gosh I don’t want to have to buy a battery, and if it is bad I sure hope it is still under warranty. Fifteen or so minutes pass and it is finally my turn, the man behind the counter, Frank is his name, looks me straight in the eye, lets out a big sigh smiles and says “How may I serve you?” Something about his energy just fills my Being with and overwhelming love that almost brings me to tears.
I tell Frank my issue and we proceed out the door to test the battery. The test reveals it is bad, but I have some credit left on the warranty and I don’t have to pay full price for a new one. That was blessing number two. Blessing number one was the issue was realized before I was stranded on the roadside or in my driveway.
I get all of the paper work done, make payment and prepare myself for going out to change out the battery in the parking lot. Frank says “I’ll take care of it for you; you don’t have to do it yourself.” Blessing number three just happened and all in less than an hour.
Frank changed out the battery, but he did more than just drop in a new battery. He cleaned the terminals, provided a new clean bolt for the terminal and did all of this with love and care in service to me.
As I stood there and talked to Frank while he was working the conversation of work and opening of a new store came up. He looked at me and asked…”You wouldn’t by chance be looking for a job would you?” Blessing number FOUR!!

You Are Being Answered, but Are YOU Listening?

There is an old story of a man who went overboard at sea.  This man is drifting in the ocean calling to God to save him.  A small fishing boat comes by and offers to pick the man up, but the man says “no thank you God is going to save me.”  Hours go by, the man is still praying to God for help.  A second larger fishing boat comes by and offers to pick the man up, but the man says “no thank you God is going to save me.”  The third time it is a Cruise Liner that comes by and attempts to pull the man aboard, but the man says “no thank you God is going to save me.”

When the man finally succumbs to being in the water for way too long, he meets God and says “I prayed to you to save me, but you didn’t. Why?  God says “I sent three boats each one a bit bigger than the last, but you turned them away.  I tried to save you, but you were unwilling to save yourself.”

Whether you are a practitioner of any of the multitudes and dilutions of organized religion, a metaphysical practitioner, or a non believer in anything greater than yourself it doesn’t matter.  We all receive intuition, messages, dreams, gut feelings, and miracles it is up to us to recognize them when they show up.

My vision for you and for myself is that we each see the miracles in our presence each day and are willing to save ourselves at the outstretched hand of the Source of ALL THINGS.

Soul Recognition through Auto Maintenance

Have you ever had a day flow into your life that made you stand back in awe and applaud the source of all that is? When it happens I just realize how silly my ego mind really is.
I took my truck over for an oil change the other morning and as the technician was getting all of the details and talking about saving money he said a few things that got me to thinking. He told me how he loved his job, loved the people he worked with and that he was extremely happy with life, but he kept repeating he was a “poor man” so he was always looking for ways to save money. His words went on to talk about the “rich man” who had the big house but no Christmas lights and how he would like to be a “rich man” but he had to live pay check to pay check as an oil change guy. Nothing I could have said would have changed his perspective, but what he gave me was a gift of words to resonate on.
Over the past few months things have slowed business wise for me and it seems like I keep running into closed doors. In an instant Source showed me a mirror of my mindset. This man in front of me had his health, his daily needs taken care of, good relationships with those around him and internal happiness yet he kept saying he was a “poor man”. Through a sick man’s eyes or an unemployed or homeless man’s eyes this technician would look like a “rich man”. All I kept hearing in my head was this man is not poor; he is just misguided in his judgment of what it means to be rich.

It is time to #BEPEACE while we #PRAYFORPEACE and #LOVEOURSELVES. That is the only thing that will quell the disruption and destruction going on. It all starts within.

Lullaby for the Monkey Mind

One morning I woke with the craving for Bananas; although I was hesitant I went ahead and ate one. Well what came next was certainly unforeseen…I slipped on the peel and out came the Monkey Mind.
You know the mind that just runs on and on no matter how much you tell it to be quiet? It notices and relates all the stuff you have consciously chosen to move your attention away from. Then you find yourself moving away from the purity of daily practice that kept you feeling finely tuned. Next thing you know you are sitting in the midst of a world you thought you had left behind. It happens to all of us, some are better at navigating the rapids but all are empowered to smoothly come into shore. It took a bit of work, diligent guidance every time it started to wander into the wood and clear pure love for life in this moment of time to corral my little Monkey Mind.
I find it so interesting that when one thinks they are on the brink of completion of a path, life shows up to make sure you are really got it. This evolution of life, the pure perfection of the divine within expressed in human form, the knee jerk reactions of free will all are like a finely tuned instrument. Mine plays a little off key from time to time, but I am happy to say that practice has lead me to stay in tune for longer stints and recognize more quickly when I need to go back to basics and just be.
Now for a little basics from Ricki BB of Agape Church…Thanks for singing to my Monkey Mind..He is now happily back in tune.

Life, Mind, and The Being Speaks

The days seem to fly by and at times I feel like a yo-yo. Do you remember those toys? Some days are “around the world”, others are “walk the dog” and then from time to time it is just the basic up and down spiral of events. No matter what state I am experiencing at any given time, I’m acutely aware of a deeper resonance of life. It’s like I can see the truth through the lies and the things that use to bring passion to life have been exposed as the compulsions of slavery. Have you ever explored your own participation in slavery?
Until here of late, I thought slavery was when one group of society owns another, like the years of the South “owning” the Negro population. Although, today I see the deeper truth in this illusion; yes the atrocities did happen and have happened all over this planet with many cultures. The truth in all of this is when you can get the people (cultures, countries, classes, genders, races, religions to name a few) pitting against each other on the ground. When the focus is right in front of you, with the goal of being the “winner”, then no one is looking at the instigator of this barbaric behavior. This is not about race, gender, or class equality. This is the system that over hundreds of years has been propagated to keep the masses at odds with one another so that a few elite can drive this train.
Let’s look at the types of slavery currently going on today in the year 2014.
Debt Slavery ~ The act of keeping people tied to jobs, serving a corporation in order to survive. There are so many ways this has been propagated and expanded. Things like multitudes of taxation, welfare systems that have no progression plan to self sufficiency, social security – your hard earned money disbursed (once you reach 62 – 65 , counting on you not living that long) in small increments that fall below the poverty level, are all means that keep each of us tilling away each day to live with basic needs. These are minimal, what about those who like technology, own a television, cell phone or pay insurance (the betting game of just in case where they up your premiums if you actually file a claim) and pay hundreds of dollars each month to keep them all going?
This month as you move through your days I would ask that you make note of each time you “have” to do something. Truly “have to” or there will be dire consequences. As you make note of these things, take a moment to imagine an alternative. If we did away with classism, cultural borders and held the leaders of each country accountable to the people they are supposed to serve, we would not have immigration issues. If people felt safe, had clean living conditions and came together in community to serve each other no one would be running away trying to improve dire circumstances. Just contemplate this for a short while.

You as Humanities Natural Resource

This morning I woke before the sun peaked through the blinds. There were many messages and visions coming to the surface pushing me out of bed to write. The messages seem very scrambled, although as they line up I am starting to see a theme.

I currently live in a new subdivision, with a lot of houses being built around me. This is a big change from my last home on acreage just outside of San Antonio. We are somewhat in the country on the fringes of a larger town where people are selling off their land to developers thinking they can accumulate wealth in a more rapid less strenuous way. Many of the farmers are challenged on what to do with their land to generate enough income to pay their taxes, while others were taught through the generations to hoard their earnings for the lean times. In what we call progress, there is transformation and change for all in the utilization of our natural resources.Natural Resources
In this new subdivision, homes go up quickly with some of the cheapest materials on the market. The amount of lumber and materials that go in the dump trailers is astounding. One morning as I sat in my driveway drinking coffee, I watched the cleanup crew load an 8 foot walled trailer with scrap lumber and empty boxes. I asked if they put all of that in the landfill and was told yes. I thought to myself all of the people that could benefit from these materials that were being wasted. Immediately an internal alarm goes off and I am taken to a breakfast meeting I had two years ago.

Two years ago, I had a publishing client with many spiritual and new age writers. This client had invited my partner and me to a large event they were putting on with many of the authors in attendance. Well, I rarely pass up a chance to travel, especially if I know there is an opportunity for a lot of new experiences. During this event through a series of conversations we were invited to a private breakfast with one of the authors. This author was Arun Gandhi, a humble man with a compassionate heart and a desire to carry on the family legacy left by his grandfather Mahatma Gandhi. That legacy of love, compassion, and non violence.

During our breakfast Arun spoke of his path and history as a young boy. In one of his stories he spoke of being sent to live with his grandfather in India because he was such a strong willed young man. This particular story has stuck with me like it was yesterday. Arun had to walk to and from the school house on a path with that was not paved out in streets. On his way home one day he has a small stub left for a pencil. It was still large enough to hang on to, but much smaller than a typical new pencil. Arun, being a child decides to throw the pencil in the brush on his way home from school, thinking that grandfather will give him a new one when he asks for it.
Arun goes to grandfather when he gets home and requests a new pencil. Grandfather asks “where is the pencil you had this morning when you left?” Arun tells him “it was small and I threw it out on my walk home.” What happened next was much unexpected. In a calm and loving tone Grandfather asks Arun, “ do you know what resources it took to make that pencil? Do you know the tree that was used, the electricity, lead, labor and all of the other resources that came together to make that one pencil?” Arun had never thought of how a pencil came to be, he had only thought of the challenge it was to hang onto such a small stick while doing his schoolwork. After the discussion of resources and the education of what it takes to make one pencil, Arun was sent back to retrace his steps and find his pencil stub. He was not lectured, he was not punished or shamed, nor was given a new pencil. He was educated and directed to retrieve the pencil and use the resource to its fullest. It is a lesson that still lives inside him 70 years later.

So, as I look around me at the waste just thrown to the ground I am guided to write about the consciousness we in humanity operate in. Do we feel so abundant that throwing away tons of resources, wood, unused strips of nails, heavy cardboard, extra insulation and roofing materials is just part of the project? Is the builder just focused on how quickly a house can be built, and by using cheap materials the waste is just a small expense? What is the true expense and is this expense to all of humanity, not just those building the house?
The theme I am seeing in all of this is the duality of abundance and lack. There are those who discard easily while on the other side of the street there are those who go to great lengths to save our rain forests. There are people who currently own homes and are challenged to find the funds for repairs, while builders have many houses in inventory sitting empty because they want a certain profit from these structures. Some of that profit could have been achieved through better use of their resources.

How do we as humanity come to understand that abundance and wealth are not measured by the stuff you own, nor the ability to just buy more, but by the true knowing that everything we come in contact with changes because of our interaction with it? How do we educate society in an understanding of hoarding and usury, poverty and wealth at inconceivable levels are all signs of poverty, consciousness poverty? Are the ones with large sums of cash stuffed away just a poor as the homeless digging through restaurant dumpsters for dinner? When he or she can spend $300.00 on a bottle of wine and walk past the sick and hungry on their way back to their car unscathed the answer is yes. They too are in poverty. Their hearts have been put in chains and their senses dulled so much that they do not see the wasted resources around them. The humanity cast aside as not needed, not worthy, not valued.
Today as you walk your path look around and just ask the question, what resources did it take to bring this object into my path? As you are challenged to pay $100 or dump a five gallon bucket of water on your head ask, how am I a wasted, underutilized resource? We change the world each day whether we see it or not so as Mahatma Gandhi once said “Become the change you wish to see in the world”
